Who we are
Weaver Web (Pty) Ltd, trading as Weaver (“we”), of 13 Jigger Avenue, Somerset West Mall Triangle, Somerset West, Cape Town, is responsible for the personal information collected through this website and in the course of our work. Our information officer is Timothy Liam Alfred Shone. Contact us at [email protected] or on WhatsApp at 000 000 0000.
What we collect
- What you send through our enquiry form: your name, business name, phone or WhatsApp number, email address, the type of business and your message.
- Messages you send us on WhatsApp or by email.
- For clients: contact and billing details, and the content you give us for your website.
- For businesses we approach about a website: the business name, the owner’s or contact’s name, the business phone number and email address, its website and Google rating, and a record of when we asked whether we may contact you and what you answered. We take these from the business’s public listings, such as Google Maps, or from the person who referred you to us.
- Basic technical information recorded when you visit, such as your IP address and browser type, used to keep the site secure and to stop spam.
Why we use it
- To reply to your enquiry, prepare your free preview and quote.
- To build, host and look after your website if you become a client, and to invoice you.
- To keep this website secure.
We only send marketing messages if you’ve agreed to receive them, and you can opt out at any time. A business we haven’t worked with is asked once whether it would like to hear from us; if it says no or doesn’t answer, we don’t contact it again. If you ask us to stop, we keep your number and email address on a do-not-contact list so that we never contact you by mistake.
Who we share it with
We don’t sell personal information. We use these service providers, under agreements that require them to keep it secure:
- Our hosting provider, which stores this website, our enquiries and our client records on servers in South Africa.
- Cloudflare, which protects this website and may process technical information outside South Africa.
- Telegram, which we use to receive instant alerts about new enquiries. Alerts may be processed outside South Africa.
- Our invoicing and payment providers, for clients only.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries, and the details of businesses we have approached, for up to 12 months unless you become a client. The do-not-contact list is kept for as long as we market our services, because its purpose is to make sure we don’t contact you again. Client records are kept for as long as the law requires, usually five years for tax records, and then deleted.
Your rights
Under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) you can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, and object to us using it. Contact our information officer using the details above. If you’re unhappy with how we handled your information, you can complain to the Information Regulator.
